Course overview

The course is intended for anyone who is interested in practicing or developing craft skills and is suitable for beginners. The aim is to make crafts relevant to the season and also to allow you to spend precious time working individually with your child and helping them develop craft skills too.  The course is designed to be fun and relaxing for all.

Eligibility criteria

Parents do not need any previous experience. Any parents with any special needs can discuss these with the tutor at enrolment to ensure that the course is suitable or can be adapted for their needs. The course is available to all adults who have children in the school. If numbers applying for the course are high preference will be given to parents who: • Do not hold a full-level 2 qualification including English or maths. • Do not hold a level 2 Maths qualification • Do not hold a level 2 English qualification • Are unemployed or retired. • Are claiming JSA • Employed and looking to progress onto further Family Learning courses • Are parents/carers of children/young people who are entitled to free school meals. • Parents who have been referred to the course for the purposes of improving their mental health and wellbeing

After the course

Parents who want to progress, can enrol on an OCNWM Level 1 Creative Craft and Enterprise course which will be running in the school in January 2019  - so please search the website for more details or speak to your tutor or Sarah McDougall. There may be further opportunities to take courses in the school or you can find courses in the community via the T&W website. There will also be other Family Learning courses in the school. Check with the school ofice for details.
