Course overview

Aims of the Programme: • To provide an opportunity for learners to explore a range of handmade crafting techniques to produce cards and gifts for Christmas • To encourage learners to think creatively to create a beautiful gifts • To encourage learners to have fun and progress onto further learning and/or employment • To provide a relaxed, friendly space for learners to interact with their own children and each other  • By the end of the course, the learners will be able to: • Create a range of effects using different paper and sticking and folding techniques • Utilise simple crafting skills, such as threading, cutting, sticking, painting and masking to create a variety of personalized items

Eligibility criteria

This course is only available to parents/carers with children attending Wrockwardine Wood Junior school.

Parents do not need any previous experience. Any parents with special needs can discuss these with the tutor at enrolment to ensure that the course is suitable or can be adapted for their needs. The course is available to all adults who have children in the school. If numbers applying for the course are high, preference will be given to parents who:

  • do not hold a Level 2 maths or Emglish qualification
  • are unemployed or retired
  • are claiming Job Seekers' Allowance
  • are employed and looking to progress onto further Family Learning courses
  • are parents/carers of children/young people who are entitled to free school meals
  • have been referred to the course for the purposes of improving their mental health and wellbeing
