The course is intended for those who are preparing to progress to working with children or working towards a career in child development. The course is also valuable in helping parents support their own children to learn.
Learners will need to have completed the Level 1 Award in Child Development to be able to enrol on this course.
By the end of the course, learners should:
- Understand how social and emotional needs contribute to child development
- Understand factors that impact on social and emotional development
- Understand how to support social and emotional development
- Know about the importance of play for children in their development
- Understand the purpose of play
- Know the importance of a curriculum plan in planning play
You must attend the information session where we will provide further information about the course.
Places are limited and registering your interest and attending the information session does not guarantee a place on the course.
Assessment is completed via portfolio work.
Learners will need to be able to attend at least 80% of the sessions to complete the portfolio and individual tutorials will be offered during the course.
Learners must be aged 19 or over to be eligible for this course.
During 2018/19 academic year, learners who have completed the Understanding Children’s Social and Emotional Development Level 2 Unit with LearnTelford will be able to enrol on this course to enable them to complete Understanding the Importance of Play Level 2 unit and gain the Level 2 Award in Child Development.
The course is free if learners are:
- or employed and earn less than £15,736.50 annual gross salary
Learners will need to provide evidence of their income if they are employed and believe they are entitled to a free course. This could be a pay slip or contract of employment.
For other eligible learners, the course fee is likely to be £150. This will be confirmed at the information session.
Dawley Social Club is located in King Street, Dawley with free car parking.
There isn’t a café on site but there are local shops in the centre of Dawley, which is a short walk away.
