Course overview

Paint and Play, is a 5 week course for parents with children in Key Stage 1 at the school who wish to develop and support their child's development of play and imagination through painting, mixed media and drawing. This course is for adults and children in KS 1 who attend Woodlands Primary

The course gives parents/carers time to be taught on their own for part of the session to create their own work and then the children join them to work together. Parents develop ideas that can be used to support their child’s joy of reading, use of numbers and creativity at home. The sessions are very informal, with many craft activities to do together which are designed to be interesting and fun to inspire both parent and child. Tutors will encourage parents to discuss their own experiences of English and maths at school and to look at developing their own skills to keep up with their children. There are opportunities for parents to move on to work towards their own qualifications in the community as well.
