Course overview

This course is available for parents with children who attend HLC Primary

This will be an ON-LINE course. You will nedd to download MS TEAMS and Edmodo to join this course

The course is intended for those who are preparing work with children and also valuable in helping parents support their own children to learn.

It is recommended that learners have completed one of Learn Telford’s short unaccredited child related courses in preparation for the Level 1 but this is not mandatory.

The course is intended for those who are preparing to progress to working with children in a school as a teaching assistant, seeking work as a lunch-time supervisor or who plan to volunteer in a school.

At the end of the course learners will know more about:

  • Approaches and methods used in school to support reading, writing and number
  • Design of materials and resources to support development of literacy and numeracy skills

Learners will study units in:

  • Working with your child to develop literacy skills
  • Working with your child to develop numeracy skills

By successfully completing this course you will gain a Level 1 Award in Employability and Development Skills (OCNWM)

The course is taught in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with an experienced tutor, and there is opportunity to meet and socialise with other in the group in a friendly, relaxed environment.

Learners with any special needs can discuss these with the tutor at the information session to ensure that the course is suitable or can be adapted for their needs.

Places are limited and registering your interest and attending the information session does not guarantee a place on the course.
