Course overview

This is an beginner level English course for adults who do not have English as a first language and wish to improve their English language skills to help with day to day situations. Learners will learn in a fun and relaxed environment with an experienced tutor.

This course is unaccredited and you will have the opportunity to progress onto an accredited ESOL course.

 

Session details

It can be difficult to make the first step into something new, therefore the tutor will contact you before the start of the course, and provide you with further information and details about anything else you will need to bring for the first session.

Places are limited and registering your interest and attending the information session does not guarantee a place on the course.

Eligibility criteria

The course is free if you are:

  • Unemployed
  • or you are employed and earn less than £17,374.50 annual gross salary

You will need to provide evidence of your income if you are employed and believe you are entitled to a free course. This could be a pay slip or contract of employment.
If you are employed, the course is part funded by the government but you will be required to make a contribution of £50.

We also operate a fee remission policy, so if you earn more than £17,374.50 per year but still cannot afford to pay for course you can apply for support. This may mean you get the course for free.

Learners must be aged 19 or over from 1st August 2021

Unfortunately you will not be eligible to enrol on this course if you live in Wolverhampton, Walsall, Sandwell, Dudley, Solihull or Birmingham.

Venue and accessibility

In response to following the government guidance for COVID-19, the centre has put in place measures to make the Centre as secure and safe as they can.

Therefore, all visitors must wear a face mask on entry and exit of the building. If arriving early, they must wait outside the building until the course start time and the tutor will give them further instructions when to enter.

You must inform the staff at the centre immediately of anyone is showing symptoms or testing positive for corona virus.
