This accredited course is intended for people living in the UK who do not have English as a first language, who already have some English writing, reading and speaking skills but not at an advanced level.
There will be an opportunity to work towards qualifications in Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing. Qualifications are offered between at 5 levels up to level 2.
Study will be active and relevant to life and work in the UK.
Please only register for one ESOL course.
Please attend the information session to enrol on this course.
At the information session, you complete a short skills assessment. This will allow the tutor to see which course is most suitable for your level. You may be offered a course on a different day or at a different level.
Please bring any English certificates you have to the first session.
Learners must be aged 19 or over from 1st August 2022.
Unfortunately you will not be eligible to enrol on this course if you live in Wolverhampton, Walsall, Sandwell, Dudley, Solihull or Birmingham.
The tutor will provide more information on eligibility to enrol on the course at the Information Session.

You will need to provide evidence of your income if you are employed and believe you are entitled to a free course. This could be a pay slip or contract of employment.
If you are employed, and earn more than £18,525 the course is part funded by the government and you will be required to make a contribution of £40. We also operate a fee remission policy, so if you earn more than £18,525 per year but still cannot afford to pay for course you can apply for support. This may mean you get the course for free. Please contact us if you would like to make an application.

University Centre Telford is part of the University of Wolverhampton. The Centre is based on the 3rd floor of the Southwater One building. It is a partnership with Telford & Wrekin Council and with Telford College.
The building is wheelchair accessible with disabled toilets. There is a costa coffee downstairs and plenty of restaurants around the venue. It is situated close to the Telford town centre with plenty of shops and café’s.
Various parking is available at the town centre at a charge. It is also within walking distance from the bus and train station.
City & Guilds (C&G)
Learners who want to progress in their ESOL studies, can work through the qualification levels up to ESOL Level 2.
Once they have achieved ESOL Level 2, learners will have the opportunity to continue their learning in Functional Skills English and Maths from Entry Level 2, Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2.
There is also an opportunity to practice your communication skills at the English Café at the University Centre Telford and to progress onto an IELTS preparation course which the University offer during the year. Please contact the University Centre Telford for further information.
