Course overview

This FREE course will give you the opportunity to explore the possibilities of weaving in a range of materials, both hard and soft, to create pieces that are both 2 and 3 dimensional. These sessions will allow you to practise these techniques in an informal and friendly environment with an experienced tutor.

During the course you will be developing traditional craft weaving skills in new and exciting ways to:

  • Explore and use a range of weaving techniques to create sustainable fashions and jewellery
  • Experiment with the exciting potentials of combining found and made materials, in a range of textures and colours
  • Create beautiful craft objects that you can wear, share, or display in your home
  • Find out how to use materials that otherwise you might throw away, in new and exciting creative ways
  • Use scale, calculation and measurement to make pieces that fit where they are intended for!

This course is supported by Multiply funding. The Woven Adornments course will help you to brush up on your numeracy skills while developing weaving skills and meeting new people in a relaxed environment.

Before the course begins, the tutor will contact you to confirm a place and check for any support needs to ensure that the course is suitable for you. We will endeavour where possible to meet your needs.

All materials and equipment will be provided on this course.

Session details

We understand it can be difficult for you to take the first steps and try something new so on the first day of the course, our friendly tutor will talk to you about the course and offer some useful information and advice.

Eligibility criteria

This course is supported by Multiply funding. Multiply is the Government funded campaign within the Skills for Life Strategy aimed at supporting adults to improve their skills and confidence with everyday maths.

Learners must be aged 19 or over from 1st August 2022

Unfortunately you will not be eligible to enrol on this course if you live in Wolverhampton, Walsall, Sandwell, Dudley, Solihull or Birmingham.

The course is FREE for those who are eligible to enrol on the course.
