Course overview

The programme is a two year part time course designed for trainers and teachers already working in an adult education setting. It provides a nationally recognised qualification for post compulsory education (PCE) practitioners and will equip them with the knowledge and skills to work effectively within the sector.

The course has a mandatory teaching practice requirement and applicants must have access to teach 150 hours over the two years.

There are two options:

  • The Undergraduate Certificate in Education is aimed at vocational teachers who do not hold a degree but hold level three or above qualifications in their subject specialism (PC001G31TW)
  • The Professional Graduate Certificate in Education is designed for people who already hold a degree (PC005N31TW)

Session details

The programme will be delivered at Telford Priorslee University Campus on Thursdays from 1pm to 5.30pm during term time.

 

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for this course you will need to be able to demonstrate you have English and maths skills at level 2 (GCSE, Functional Skills Level 2 or other equivalent).You will need a subject specialism at Level 3 for the Undergraduate Certificate in Education or a degree for the Professional Graduate Certificate in Education course.

The course has a mandatory teaching practice requirement and applicants must have access to teach 150 hours over the two years. We may be able to offer some support with this, but you will need to speak to us about this prior to your place being confirmed on the course.

The course fee is £3,050 approximately for the first year (the 2nd year will be a similar cost, but fees for 2023 - 2025 are not yet confirmed) Fees can be covered by a student loan from Student Finance England  if necessary.
