Course overview

Multiply June 23 White WritingOur new FREE Multiply Steps to Wellbeing course provides an opportunity to explore the green spaces of Randlay Valley Local Nature Reserve, enjoying a leisurely 1-2 mile guided walk with our friendly tutor. Randlay Valley sits between Randlay and Hollinswood and was declared a Local Nature Reserve in 2023. As the course is part of our Multiply Skills for Life offer, we'll provide a FREE pedometer so you can count your steps along the way.  At the end of the walk, enjoy FREE light refreshments with us at Hollinswood Pavilion and an opportunity to reflect on the activities and achievements.

 During the course you will:

  • Socialise with others in a supportive and friendly group environment
  • Go outdoors to explore the walks at Randlay Valley
  • Use your FREE pedometer to count your steps
  • Share ideas about how to keep active after the course finishes

This course is supported by Multiply funding. Multiply is the Government funded campaign within the Skills for Life Strategy aimed at supporting adults to improve their skills and confidence with everyday maths. Multiply offers easy access to free courses and initiatives where you can build your confidence in using numbers at work or in everyday life, or even gain a qualification. Visit skillsforlife.campaign.gov.uk/multiply to find out about Multiply.  This course will embed the numeracy skills and concepts used to promote exercise and healthy living, including step-counting and simple measurements.

At the beginning of the session your tutor will ask you to complete an enrolment form.  Please bring a form of photo ID with you to the course.

Session details

Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and footwear.

The course will follow designated footpaths and walking routes. The walks are mainly on hard surface paths with some small gradients. The paths can get muddy in wet weather so sturdy shoes are advisable.

We understand it can be difficult for you to take the first steps and try something new so, on the first day of the course, our friendly tutors will talk to you about the course and offer some useful information and advice.

This is a single-session course:

Tuesday 12th March, 2024. 

9:15am-12.15pm

Before the course, we will contact you to confirm your place and so that if you have any additional or special needs we can discuss these with you to ensure that the course is suitable or can be adapted.

Eligibility criteria

This course is supported by Multiply funding. Multiply is the Government funded campaign within the Skills for Life Strategy aimed at supporting adults to improve their skills and confidence with everyday maths.

Learners must be aged 19 or over from 1st August 2023.

Unfortunately you will not be eligible to enrol on this course if you live in Wolverhampton, Walsall, Sandwell, Dudley, Solihull or Birmingham.

The course is FREE for those who are eligible to enrol on the course.

Venue and accessibility

The session will start and finish at Hollinswood Pavilion. The course will follow designated footpaths and walking routes. 

Hollinswood Pavilion is situated less than 1/2 a mile away from Telford Town Centre and walking distance from Hollinswood Primary School.

Parking is available inside the gated area of the Pavilion or directly outside in the public car park next to the playing field.
