Course overview

For parents/adults who have a child who attends Dawley Primary School.

This relaxed and informal course is designed to support adults in understanding why children behave in certain ways and then it helps to build useful knowledge of how to approach a wide range of typical child behaviours. Adult only sessions. 

At the end of the course you will learn more about the following;

  • How Children develop behaviours and what makes them 'tick' 
  • Build a 'toolkit' of strategies to help deal with challenging behaviours
  • How to support others by sharing experiences
  • Build a really positive parent/child relationship by learning how to stay calm and relaxed and happy


Session details

Learners must attend the information and taster session to enrol on this course and show full commitment to attend all sessions.

More than one adult with a child at the school, may attend the course. Friends and family are welcome.

Eligibility criteria

This course is available to parents who's Children attend Dawley Primary

Available to those over 19 who may meet the following:

  • Do not hold a full Level 2 qualification including English or maths.
  • Do not hold a Level 2 Maths qualification
  • Do not hold a Level 2 English qualification
  • Are unemployed or retired
  • Are claiming JSA
  • Employed and looking to progress onto further Family Learning courses
  • Are parents/carers of children/young people who are entitled to free school meals

Have been referred to the course for the purposes of improving their mental health and wellbeing.

What to Do Next
