Course overview

This accredited Level 1 Award is designed to support you develop your customer service skills. The course will support you whether you already work in a specific industry or if you are currently seeking employment.

You will learn the skills to help you deliver efficient and reliable customer service

You will work towards a Level 1 Award in Customer Service accredited by City and Guilds.

During the course, you will learn:

  • How to engage with customers and handle their enquiries effectively
  • Customer handling skills in different scenarios
  • Listening and communication skills
  • How to exceed customer expectations

Please be aware the course content includes some written work which simulates written communication with customers, such as emails and business letters. You will need a sufficient level of English to complete this qualification. Please contact us if you would like any additional information before registering for the course

Session details

At the first session the tutor will give you more information about the course and what you will need to do to achieve the qualification.

Sessions will take place each Tuesdays, 09:15-12:15, for 10 weeks

Please be aware the course content includes some written work which simulates written communication with customers, such as emails and business letters. You will need a sufficient level of English reading and writing skills to complete this qualification. Eligibility criteria

Learners must be aged 19 or over from 1st August 2024

Unfortunately you will not be eligible to enrol on this course if you live in Wolverhampton, Walsall, Sandwell, Dudley, Solihull or Birmingham.

The tutor will provide more information on eligibility to enrol on the course at the Information Session. 

The course is free if you are:

  • Unemployed
  • or you are employed and earn less than £25,000 annual gross salary

You will need to provide evidence of your income if you are employed and believe you are entitled to a free course. This could be a pay slip or contract of employment.

If you are employed, and earn more than £25,000 the course is part funded by the government and you will be required to make a contribution of £150.  We also operate a fee remission policy, so if you earn more than £25,000 per year but still cannot afford to pay for course you can apply for support. This may mean you get the course free. Please contact us if you would like to make an application.

The church is all on one level- no steps. 

On street parking at the front of the church on Waterloo Road. Parking also available at the back of the church on Church Street. 

Parking also available at Hadley centre which is a 5 minute walk to the church.

What to Do Next

There is potential to progress to a level 2 Award in Customer Service.
