Course overview

This accredited course is intended for women who have a child who attends Short Wood Primary, who do not have English as a first language. Aimed at Entry 2 learners

Qualifications are offered between entry level and advanced levels up to level 2.

Study will be active and relevant to life and work in the UK.

Session details

Sessions every Friday - 9.00 - 11.30

You must commit to attend every session in order to achieve the Entry 2 Qualification

 

Eligibility criteria

This accredited course is intended for women who have a child who attends Short Wood Primary, who do not have English as a first language. Aimed at Entry 2 learners

Parents do not need any previous experience. Any parents with special needs can discuss these with the tutor at enrolment to ensure that the course is suitable or can be adapted for their needs. The course is available to all adults who have children in the school. If numbers applying for the course are high, preference will be given to parents who:

  • do not hold a Level 2 maths or English qualification
  • are unemployed or retired
  • are claiming Job Seekers' Allowance
  • are employed and looking to progress onto further Family Learning courses
  • are parents/carers of children/young people who are entitled to free school meals
  • have been referred to the course for the purposes of improving their mental health and wellbeing

What to Do Next

Learners who want to progress in their ESOL studies can work through the qualification levels up to ESOL Level 2.

Once they have achieved ESOL Level 2, learners will have the opportunity to continue their learning in Functional Skills English and Maths from Entry Level 2, Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2.
