This course is available for parents with a child who attends St Peters (Bratton) Primary.
This accredited course is intended for parents who are considering working with children in a school or nursery setting. It is also valuable in helping parents support their own children to learn.
By successfully completing this course you will have the opportunity to achieve a Level 1 Award in Employability and Development Skills (Childcare Pathway).
The course is relevant for anyone who wants to support children at home or in an education setting or are interested in volunteering in children's settings.

By successfully completing this course you will gain a Level 1 Award in Employability and Development Skills (AIM Qualifications).
If you have already achieved the qualification Supporting Children's Learning (Level 1 Award), you will not be eligible to join this course.
Assessment is completed via portfolio work.
Learners will need to be able to attend at least 80% of the sessions to complete the portfolio and individual tutorials will be offered during the course.
The course is taught in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with an experienced tutor, and there is opportunity to meet and socialise with other in the group in a friendly, relaxed environment.
Learners with any special needs can discuss these with the tutor at the information session to ensure that the course is suitable or can be adapted for their needs.
You will need to commit to attend all 10 sessions in order to achieve the Level 1 Qualification, unless agreed with the tutor.

Parents do not need any previous experience. Any parents with any special needs can discuss these with the tutor at enrolment to ensure that the course is suitable or can be adapted for their needs. The course is available to all adults who have children in the school. If numbers applying for the course are high preference will be given to parents who: • Do not hold a full-level 2 qualification including English or maths. • Do not hold a level 2 Maths qualification • Do not hold a level 2 English qualification • Are unemployed or retired. • Are claiming JSA • Employed and looking to progress onto further Family Learning courses • Are parents/carers of children/young people who are entitled to free school meals. Parents who have been referred to the course for the purposes of improving their mental health and wellbeing
