Course overview

This fun and informal course provides an opportunity for learners with a child at Holmer Lake Primary School

The course will explore a range planting and handmade crafting techniques to be used to create a beautiful mini garden planter to take home.

  • Aims of the Programme: 
  • To provide an opportunity for learners to explore a range of handmade crafting techniques to create a mini garden planter
  • To introduce learners to simple planting of seeds
  • To encourage learners to think creatively 
  • To encourage learners to have fun and progress onto further learning and/or employment 
  • To provide a relaxed, friendly space for learners to interact with each other 
  • To support Wellbeing
  • All resources provided

You must attend all sessions to complete the course.

One child per adult

Eligibility criteria

This fun and informal course provides an opportunity for learners with a child at Holmer Lake Primary School

Parents do not need any previous experience. Any parents with special needs can discuss these with the tutor at enrolment to ensure that the course is suitable or can be adapted for their needs. The course is available to all adults who have children in the school. If numbers applying for the course are high, preference will be given to parents who:

  • do not hold a Level 2 maths or English qualification
  • are unemployed or retired
  • are claiming Job Seekers' Allowance
  • are employed and looking to progress onto further Family Learning courses
  • are parents/carers of children/young people who are entitled to free school meals
  • have been referred to the course for the purposes of improving their mental health and wellbeing
