Whether you are currently actively seeking work, or in the early stages of exploring your employment options, we have a range of services that can support you. All of Telford and Wrekin Council's employment related services are part of the Job Box.

Job Box Drop-in Desk

A free service designed to provide help to people who want to move into employment or undertake learning.

Job Advisors can help people think about their options and help them plan a way forward. They can help with searching for and finding work or learning opportunities. They can also help in putting together CVs and applications as well as helping people prepare for an interview. They also keep up to date with what’s going on in the Telford & Wrekin area and sometimes know about upcoming jobs before they’re advertised!

So whether someone needs more intensive support, or just wants a bit of help practicing some interview questions Job Box Advisors have the time, skills and knowledge to be able to help them succeed.

You don't need an appointment, just drop-in between 10am - 5pm Monday to Friday.

Learning & Skills Drop-in Sessions

These are drop-in sessions held monthly at various locations across Telford. Our friendly staff can help you with advice and guidance about local courses and your learning and work goals as well as advice on CVs and job search activities.

You don't neeed to book an appointment to attend a drop-in, you can just turn up.

Connect to Work with the Job Box

A new intensive 1 to 1 support service to help people find work! Launched in October 2025 our team of Employment Specialists can help you find work!

You could be eligible for this new service if you believe any of the following priority groups applies to you:

  • a person with a disabilty or long-term health condition
  • A carer or ex-carer
  • A person experiencing homelessness
  • Members and partners of the Armed Forces
  • People with drug or alcohol dependency
  • Care experienced young people or care leavers
  • Refugees, resettled Afghans or individuals on the Ukrainian scheme
  • Victims of domestic abuse
  • Victims of modern slavery
  • Offender or ex-offenders

National Careers Service

The National Careers Service (NCS) provides information, advice and guidance to help you make decisions on learning, training and work opportunities. The service offers free confidential and impartial advice. This is supported by qualified careers advisers who you can access at different venues throughout the Telford and Shropshire area.

The National Careers Service can help you in the following areas:

  • Build a winning CV.
  • Give you Interview tips and techniques.
  • Career choice and direction.
  • Local labour market information – the latest Job vacancies and employment options in Telford.
  • Identify your skills to help you decide your future.
  • What is the right course for you to support your career goals.
  • Identifying and applying for suitable apprenticeships.
  • Funding and financial support available for you.
