At Learn Telford we offer a wide range of different art and craft courses. Our short introductory courses are FREE. We provide opportunities for you to progress to longer courses where you can develop your skills and gain a recognised qualification. Our accredited courses are also FREE for most adults. All the materials you need will be provided FREE on our art and craft courses.
Our courses are relaxed and friendly and we encourage anyone with any special needs to discuss these with their tutor at the first session so we can ensure that the course chosen is suitable or can be adapted.
Our introductory courses are usually 4 to 6 sessions, with one session per week during the daytime, and take place in community venues across Telford and Wrekin. They provide an opportunity to try a new craft or develop some art skills and no previous experience is needed. We offer a variety of different types of arts and crafts courses throughout the year, some with seasonal themes.
Our Level 1 Award courses are usually 11 or 12 sessions and you'll attend 1 session each week, except for Bank and School Holidays. During the course you will complete arts or craft and activities, which are collated into a portfolio to enable you to complete units in Creative Craft and Enterprise in Craft. By completing the course, you will gain a Level 1 Award in Skills for Living and Work - Craft Pathway (AIM Qualifications).
If you have already achieved a Level 1 Award in Craft and Enterprise from Open College Network West Midlands, a Level 1 Award in Craft Design, Craft and Enterprise with AIM Qualifications, or Level 1 Award in Skills for Living and Work - Craft Pathway (AIM Qualifications) you will not be eligible to join this course.
Our Level 2 courses are intended for learners who have completed the Level 1 Award and want to continue their learning by progressing to a Level 2 Award. On this course, you will explore how to develop your arts or craft skills further, learn some enterprise skills and contribute to an enterprise project. You'll attend 1 session each week, usually for 11 or 12 weeks, except for Bank and School Holidays. During the course you will compile a portfolio of art pieces, a sketchbook of design ideas for art or craft and complete activities to enable you to complete units in Craft Design Project and Enterprise in Craft.
If you have already achieved the qualification from Open College Network West Midlands, achieved an AIM Level 2 Award in Craft Design or a Level 2 in Craft and Enterprise you will not be eligible to join this course.
You don't need to take an exam to gain the Level 1 or Level 2 qualification, but you do need to attend the course sessions regularly and complete all the activities for both the Units. Please note that you can only attend one Level 1 Award and one Level 2 Award for arts or crafts and complete each Award once. You can find out more information about each course, eligibility criteria and any potential course fee by clicking on the course link. If you are unsure whether you are eligible for a course, you can contact us and we will be able to advise you.
Have a look at the artwork below where learners bring their ideas to life through colour, texture, and imagination. Each piece reflects hands-on effort, growing confidence, and the joy of creative exploration. We’re proud to share their work and celebrate the unique voices behind every creation.
